Rolls-Royce SMR signs key agreement with BWXT

Rolls-Royce SMR has signed a detailed design contract with nuclear services and technology company BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT) for the development of nuclear steam generators, marking a crucial step in advancing Europe’s leading Small Modular Reactor (SMR) program.

BWXT’s subsidiary, BWXT Canada Ltd, based in Ontario, has over 60 years of experience producing high-quality steam generators for the nuclear energy industry, supplying more than 315 units to plants worldwide.

The agreement also includes the development of a localisation strategy to support future manufacturing and related activities in the UK, Czech Republic, and across Europe. This approach aims to maximise opportunities for local suppliers, create jobs, enhance skills, and deliver tangible benefits to local communities.
