Alfa Laval extends partnership with EDF for France’s new EPR2 reactors

Alfa Laval has extended its long-standing partnership with EDF (Électricité de France SA) to support the next generation of nuclear energy projects in France. The renewed agreement marks a key milestone in the companies’ shared commitment to delivering reliable, low-carbon electricity to meet rising energy demand.
Under the collaboration, Alfa Laval’s advanced gasketed and semi-welded plate heat exchangers will be installed at EDF’s Penly, Gravelines and Bugey sites, contributing to the construction of six new EPR2 reactors.
To streamline development and optimize capital expenditure, both companies are adopting a standardized design approach for all EPR2 reactors. By utilizing modular technology and serial production, the project aims to boost efficiency, reduce complexity and accelerate deployment across all sites, reinforcing EDF’s extensive fleet of 57 operating nuclear reactors in France.
