Aker Solutions signs MoU with Nordbex for BIOCCUS plants

Aker Solutions has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Swedish climate-tech company Nordbex to develop a portfolio of future BIOCCUS (bioenergy with carbon capture, use, and storage) plants across Europe.

Under the agreement, the companies will combine their technologies and expertise to deliver Nordbex 1, Sweden’s first replicable BIOCCUS facility. Aker Solutions will provide project management, owner’s engineering, and EPCm services, while Nordbex will lead as the project developer.

Scheduled for deployment in the SE4 electricity region by the first half of 2029, the facility will convert forestry waste into biofuel, generating electricity and heat for local communities while capturing CO2 efficiently.
