Valmet will deliver flue gas condensing and heat recovery equipment to Kokkola Energy Oy’s combined heat and power plant in Kokkola Industrial Park.
The delivery is part of Kokkola Energy’s emission reduction program, for example, sulfur and dust emissions will decrease the use of fossil fuels in the district heat production. The flue gas condensation system will improve the energy efficiency of the power plant and increase the district heat production capacity without CO2 emissions.
The order is included in Valmet’s orders received of Q2 2019. Typically, the value of these kinds of projects is around EUR 5 M. The equipment is scheduled to be taken into use at the end of 2020.
The flue gas condensing and heat recovery equipment will be installed to the existing CFB boiler with a fuel capacity of 109 MW. The flue gas condensation and heat recovery system will produce district heat to the district heat network with a 15 MW effect. The heat produced with this system decreases Kokkola Energy’s annual fuel need by an amount that equals approximately 400 truckloads.
