Viridor has selected Technip Energies to spearhead a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contract for a Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) initiative at one of the United Kingdom’s largest Energy-from-Waste facilities located in Runcorn.
The ambitious project aims to annually capture approximately 900,000 tons of CO2, with half of the volume sourced from biogenic origins, resulting in the removal of 450,000 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere annually.
Under the FEED study, Technip Energies will orchestrate a comprehensive design leveraging the Canopy by T.EN™ solution, powered by Shell CANSOLV CO2 capture technology. This innovative approach is a cornerstone of Capture. Now™, Technip Energies’ strategic Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) platform aimed at accelerating carbon reduction initiatives.
Crucially, the plant will assume a pivotal role in the regional decarbonization strategy by furnishing a stable, long-term baseload CO2 supply to the HyNet industrial carbon capture cluster in Northwest England.
